Spa and health club

Has been my go-to hotel for years whenever I come home to Cardiff and have always been happy with it, but this is the first time I've had time to use the pool and spa, and the changing rooms were like stepping into a different building: broken/rusted lockers, broken ceiling tiles and broken locks on the shower doors, used plaster left on the bench, steam room with no steam, surly receptionist.It's a shame because the spa/pool was always a big factor for me in choosing this Hilton compared to other local hotels, I just never had the time to use it until this week.That being said everything else about the hotel is great, so if you don't plan to use the pool/gym it's 5 stars.

Great gym, friendly and uplifting atmosphere. My brother goes here all the time and knows the owner - whenever I’m back in the Lakes it’s always a pleasure going

I have been here twice. The forst was for a Thai massage which was absolutely fantastic. Maybe the best massage I have ever had.The second time was for a pedicure. I drove far to get this as I was so impressed with my first visit.The actual pedicure was OK, varnish etc. The killer was that at the end (even though I brought flip flops) I was told that I needed to wait 45 minutes in reception for the polish to dry. Not to put flip flops on, or for the beautician to put them on then varnish, which is what usually happens. I was supposed to wait in the spa reception. This was along about 4 corridors and 2 flights of stairs. In bare feet when people have walked in outside shoes. It's not ok, I walked this way because I had no choice, but left (as soon as I got to reception) feeling like I had dirty feet and why did I bother. It's top end price, which would be ok if it wasn't for my exit experience.

Booked a massage and scrub for my daughters 18th birthday… the worst customer service we have EVER experienced. DO NOT COME HERE. The lady’s hands were so crusty I thought that the oil massage was the scrub. The room was freezing cold and to top it off the 1hr session was so rushed the lady finished everything in 40 minutes. We were both cheated of at least 10 minutes of our 1hr session. But I’m glad it was over quicker because what was supposed to be relaxing was actually making me feel sick.I mention customer service because even though we booked weeks in advance, when we turned up we were told a half of our appointments had to be canceled because of a shortage of staff. We have been told to book the other half of the treatments another day… even though we booked the treatments specifically for my daughters birthday. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Been a member for many years with moderate attendance. Was initially a bit hesitant to return for 2020 reasons. But so far, after a couple of visits I'm really happy with it. Plenty of cleaning materials provided, not too busy, other members generally keeping their distance and being courteous. Equipment availability and selection is fantastic. I should add that I'm mostly trying to visit during off-peak times, so please take my not busy comment with caution. Staff have always been real helpful, friendly and amazing, so never any complaints there. I recommend.

Under new management, the new manager has cut all the classes, manager refusing to provide email and point of contact for managers above him. Golds not interested in views of customer. Over 50 ladies upset and the instructor kindly communicated this on our behalf - so they sacked her after 25 years service. I will be contacting trading standards and financial ombudsman as my money has been taken under false pretences. This is not what I signed up to.. Save your money and find a different gym.

Beautiful hotel and rooms. We stayed for the back to the future evening event. This year the Food was late coming out and all 3 courses were small especially the starter and dessert. Disappointed as it was our second visit at a Christmas party. The wine on the table was not the best quality. Breakfast the following morning did make up for it as it was stunning.

Had a fantastic and wonderful experience being a member here this summer while I attended classes. I was able to wake up and walk to the gym almost every morning and work out or enjoy the sauna before class. It made a huge difference in my ability to learn and deal with stress. Friendly staff and a great facility. Loved the tea at the front. Even got my hair cut and dyed here, which was very helpful and a great experience. Will join up again when I’m next in Cambridge for an extended time!

Lovely staff, the pool area and steam room and sauna were nice and the bar and restaurant were great!! Bar serves Starbucks coffee. My massage wasn't great however - no music, bright lights and so hard it left me with bruises (despite me asking for it to be softer). As with most spas, there was competition for the loungers but they have a 'no towels' policy which makes things a bit easier.
