Nowadays it's just a field. Lots of history here though.

TBH there is not a lot to see here, so you really have to let your imagination take hold. To set the scene...It is 84AD and the Roman legionary fort perimeter encompasses an area of 53 acres. It housed 5,400 legionaries alongside their auxiliaries. They lived in 64 barrack buildings, and their food and kit would have filled a further 170 storehouses and 6 granaries. In addition, there was an HQ complex at its centre, a hospital and large drill hall.To protect all this, a perimeter wall was built above a 2 metre deep ditch.Mind blowing really, which makes you wonder what the native Caledonians thought of it!Alas, due to a rebellion in the NE of the Roman empire in what is modern day Romania, a legion was withdrawn from Britain in 86AD and thus Inchtuthil was abandoned before it was completed and fully occupied.

No very welcoming; ran out of Sunday dinners and wouldn't warm up or provide a means to warm up baby food after a long walk in the rain. Seemed they were annoyed with us of that they'd ran out of Sunday dinner.
