The Wensleydale Experience
We called up while we were in the area and Tim was able to squeeze us in on the same day for the Farm Tour! He was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. Very insightful and very much worth the money. Highly recommend. We weren’t sure who it was for but Tim tailors it for adults, kids, and families

It’s amazing when you actually get meat that is organic. The chicken is amazing, large drumsticks that have nice natural colour instead of being white. I have also had the burgers and chicken livers since I got my delivery yesterday. Organic meat may be a luxury for some, but I see it as an investment into my health. Well worth the money and will be setting up regular deliveries. Thanks folks

I personally believe that if you are going to eat meat you should be willing to spend appropriately to ensure that you are buying high quality meat from independent, domestic farmers who care about what they do. Animal welfare is absolutely essential to me but it can be hard to know what is truly happening at farms and abbatoirs. There is clear message on Hugh Grierson's website that ecology, welfare and quality are primary motivating values. The beef and lamb I have received in my orders is genuinely some of the best I have ever tasted (and I doubt that is just down to my cooking). I also regularly order chicken feet for making bone broth and have tried several UK suppliers. The chicken feet from Hugh Grierson's farm are the cleanest, strongest, healthiest looking ones I have seen and that reassures me that the animals were well cared for.

We had a fantastic time, walking the Alpacas, grooming the Highland cows and feeding lambs. In a wonderful setting. Our hosts were very friendly and chatted freely about the farm and the animals . Loved the micro pig. Recommend this for Adults and children.

Down On The Farm
I had a lady from Colorado who wanted to see a real live farm in Scotland while in Aberdeenshire. Matthew and Carol gave Tara an amazing tour of the cows, calves and the sheep at Down on the Farm. The highlight for her was handling the ferrets which was most unexpected. We were treated to cream and jam scones in the bothy before we left which was top class.Overall a great visit and well worth it.Alasdair BrodieTours By Brodie - Select Scotland Tours.

Down On The Farm
What a hidden gem we have found at Down on the Farm! Carole and Matthew are so friendly and are excellent hosts. We have stayed in the glamping pods for two nights cooking sausages on the open fire, roasting marshmallows and playing games. We spent our days taking in the views and visiting the local beaches. We finished our trip with the Farm tour where Carole pulled us round in the trailer with the quad bike (a highlight with the boys) and Matthew told us all about the farm and animals. We loved feeding the cows and exploring their beach. We returned today to visit the farm and learnt all about the stages of lambing. We loved every minute and learned so much.If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, educational and fun trip then look no further. We can’t wait to come back in spring for sheep shearing!Thank you Carole and Matthew!

I drove 40 mile yesterday to buy beef, there was no farm shop, just a portacabin with some eggs and very little choice in a freezer

Our third visit to Crossgates Cottage and it’s the perfect getaway from the hurly burly of urban life. Beautifully original whilst still providing all you need for your stay. The dark skies are simply stunning making this the perfect location for astronomers. We WILL be back.

The Wensleydale Experience
We spent two nights at the Wensleydale Experience and it did not disappoint. It was our anniversary and wanted to spend some time in nature to relax. The views were beautiful and even though other yurts are nearby, it felt private and secluded. The yurt itself was spotless, with the a huge comfy bed!The hot tub was also a lovely treat, but make sure to pile the wood up to get it warmed up (it can take a while, but once warm it’s easy to stay on top of) We loved the fire pit and enjoyed late night drinks around it. We used the BBQ every night too.We stopped for breakfast at the cafe on site one morning, it was delicious and the eggs were just soooo fresh tasting.Tim was super helpful and always on hand for questions, nothing was ever too much trouble for him.We adored our stay and will definitely be back for some unwinding time. Thanks so much!
