The Majestic Line (Scotland) Ltd
Back in May 2023 I had my third trip with the Majestic Line - Idyllic Isles of the Outer Hebrides on a 10 day trip aboard the Glen Etive (my previous trips were aboard the Glen Shiel).I had a good time but there were a few issues with the Glen Etive maintenance particularly with the power & don’t believe both generators were working. Some guests found no hot water in the mornings. There were also kitchen problems down to maintenance which staff chose not to share apart from the chef explaining dinner would be late one night due to loss of power. We also lost an anchor which meant for 3 nights we had to moor in Tobermory for 2 nights & the last one in Oban when it should have been in more scenic & remote places. I think the most disappointing aspect was Majestic telling the skipper he needed to retrieve the anchor (unfortunately this couldn’t be done despite arriving at the loss site again) replicating a day of our holiday & thus felt slightly cheated out of a day.On a more positive note the crew were fantastic & the food was excellent & we saw some wonderful scenery. The other guests were great company too. It may be worth noting this trip only spent 3 nights in the Outer Hebrides due to inclement weather (mainly sea swell). Although I wasn’t too upset personally as I had previously been to the Outer Hebrides, if you book this trip expecting to spend most of the time on these islands you could well find this an issue as no guarantee with Scottish weather you will see them. Vatersay which we did see was a stunning beach & enjoyed strolling along it. We visited Rum, Skye & Loch Duich via the Shiants instead & saw some wonderful wild life.I would use Majestic again (despite getting caught in the shower covered in soap with no water when a water pump stopped working) as I know normally things do run more smoothly but would be surprised if any of the first time guests on this trip would book again.

Argyll Cruising - Scottish Cruises
Having just spent a week on the Splendour with our family (6 adults, 3 grandkids — 9, 7 and 1 year old), I can say this was a fabulous trip and something we will long-remember. Initial reluctance by the mid-level generation was replaced with enthusiasm for the whole trip. Captain Ted was tireless in entertaining the kids (fishing, kayaking, crabbing, dolphins, whirl pools, mystical caves, piloting" the boat) while keeping us all safe and informed. Chef Thomas's meals were interesting

Argyll Cruising - Scottish Cruises
Sailing aboard the Splendour was a wonderful experience. It is a worthy ship, clean, comfortable, with a worn-in homey feel and plenty of room to find the comfort you wish. The captain, Ted, was kindly responsive to our needs and made sure we were having a good time, which made the guests feel quite at home. Our cabin was clean, with head, shower, plenty of room for the bags of transatlantic travelers, and a comfortable bed with nary a rocking at sheltered anchorages. The food, too, was terrific and plenty. Breakfast was served at 8:30 am and hot and hardy for a leisurely start to the day. No need for early calls to meet the tour bus; we were already on it. Schedules for lunchtime and dinner adjusted to cruising to sites or trips ashore, if you so wanted. Nonetheless, food always arrived just when you needed it.During the day, we cruised to sites that provided interest for the geologist, botanist, historian, and animal lover (seals, dolphins, puffins, kittiwakes, gannets, black-back gulls, guillemots, razorbills).Wine-inspired evenings were filled with happy-hearted, lively conversions with new-found friends or listening to Scottish/Irish folk songs accompanied by guitar or fiddle. We will always hold our cruise on the Splendour dear in our hearts.

If you are a vegetarian, you will starve. There was little to choose from & the staff didn’t know the difference to vegan.Unless we ate pizza there was little choice so several nights we ended up in our cabin ordering room service which was also limited. The best meal was tomato soup,so a lot of money for not much,Luckily we ate lunch st our ports of call.Surroundings were tasteful, cabins were good size & pleasantly appointed but after many cruises with Cunard & Scenic,it was a huge let down. Can’t see why people say it’s so good
