As someone who has absolutely no knowledge of self build Alan has been so helpful in explaining the whole process from finding a plot to completion. He gave me advice on builders, mortgages and other ways plots are advertised. Without this advice from Alan I feel I would have made some bad decisions so thank you again Alan. He is very transparent when it comes to the do’s and don’ts and gives you a clear indication of fees once work has started. Thank you again Alan.

We worked with Alan when we realised our existing planned design wouldn't work. Alan was enthusiastic about our project from the outset and really injected some positive energy!We had a good idea of what design would work for us and Alan worked closely within this remit, exploring all other options and providing us with alternatives that we hadn't thought of. This allowed the proposed design to be tested in the creative phase and design elements either incorporated or dismissed. Much better (and cheaper) to do this at this phase before the spades go into the ground!When it came to the technical aspect Alan's knowledge was fantastic. He had a wide range of solutions that we relied on which allowed us to achieve specific design objectives without compromising on quality, finish or price.Having built his own family home, he clearly understands the challenges that a self-build can bring and worked with us to overcome the obstacles faced.We really enjoyed working with Alan and know that he's there to support us as we progress with the build. Worked with Alan for 4 years on different projects. Every project had an issue with planning submissions caused by his error leading to resubmissions and causing significant delays and extra costs. Every time a resubmission had to be submitted, Alan would charge his fees again, despite many of these being caused by his error. His mistakes have cost me tens of thousands of pounds. Alan is not a qualified architect that he claims to be. He has no formal qualifications nor RIBA registration. He does not understand commercial aspect of property and working with property developers. Perhaps he is best suited to residential designs where he can draw something and then pay an actual architect to put in on paper ad present as his own. He fluffs" when approached about anything at all and doesnt listen...leading to constant revisions. He doesnt take any accountability for his actions. We have lived hell during the 4 years we engaged with Alan...only reason for continuing to work with him is that our builder would "manage him" and Gill

Alan is a pleasure to work with and has a creative approach to design combined with sense of practicality to get the job done.
