We integrated our trip with a journey on the little ratty, Didn't know anything about the water mill but went to a nearby pub for a cool drink, Couldn't see the mill working due to low level of water but if you keep your ticket you can go back within a year free

A very interesting mill with great interpretation and friendly staff. The information is well presented and clear, and I loved the audio/visual parts. So cool to see a working mill and we loved the hydro electric feature!!! What a great idea! The staff with helpful and knowledgeable.

I would recommend a trip here to anyone, it is one of the best places we've been on our trip to the lakes. Friendly, helpful and very informative staff. Also it's surrounded by trees and obviously fast flowing water to drive the wheels. It's brilliant.

Not very large but extremely interesting to see a working water mill. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. There are inside and outside areas of working machinery. You can take your dog round inside which is a bonus. Not really suitable for wheelchair due to stone steps and narrow doorways. No on site parking.

Exceeded my expectations.Small but beautiful place with an outstanding amount of history behind it and all wonderfully displayed. And so lovely to see it all in working order and the effort put in by the staff and volunteers to raise funds to keep this place alive.

We saw the signs at the Dalegarth for Boot station, having boarded the Raven and Eskdale Railway at Ravenglass. We wondered into the village of Boot and upto the Mill. You can see the water wheel turning without having the pay to go in the Mill, however I would thoroughly recommend paying to look around, to see the inner workings of this ancient Mill was stunning. Plus you get to explore the small but we'll maintained gardens. The model water mill was a fun addition for the kids. Plus the added Bonus of a water fall next to the Mill. You can follow the water from the river through the garden and watch it tumble over the wheel. At £13.75 for a family of 4 it was a small price to pay to help keep this piece of history turning. The volunteers on site were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely be recommend a visit if you like history, waterfalls, exploring.

I highly recommend visiting Eskdale Mill. There is a very interesting exhibition at the beginning, explaining the history of the site and how the mill works. Then you can visit the various rooms and see some of the machinery working. The outdoor part is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Eskdale Mill is a hidden gem and we would definitely go back!

Wonderful old mill, that's recently had some investment to make it well worth the visit.

Very interesting visit here yesterday. My husband loves watermills &finding one with 3 waterwheel was a real treat! We loved being able to walk outside too &see all the mill races &sluice gates...something which is not always on offer. Highly recommended.
