The Montessori Nursery School

We will always feel extremely grateful that our children had the opportunity to attend The Montessori Nursery School in Edinburgh. Trish and her wonderful team have created a very special space in which the children thrive, learn and grow in every way. Our children both absolutely loved their time there and we all felt bereft when it was time to move on to Primary School.

Very nice and well attended nursery. It has made a very positive impact on our son. He was happy to go everyday, always had good things to tell us about. The staff are very professional and courteous. Communication is excellent.I would most definitely recommend it to everyone.

The Montessori Nursery is a wonderful learning environment in a fantastic light open space with incredibly dedicated, supportive and responsive teachers. Both our sons are flourishing at the Montessori Nursery and we love the use of the nature and outdoors as a part of their daily lives. We feel part of a special community of Montessori families in Edinburgh and feel very lucky to have found such a great nursery for our boys.

My son started his nursery life last year and enjoys his life there. To my surprise, children were so calm and happy and focused on their own activities in a big hall space with organised equipments. Teachers often explained things gently, with children looking into the teacher’s face and listening. My son naturally joined as if he had been there since long before.Soon after, we received his settling in report which explained how my son progressed and settled at the nursery. We were surprised, touched, reassured with the report contents how quickly they realised his features.Small class and authentic, good teachers and teamwork exists, so it is possible to observe children carefully. Also we believe it helps creating trust and allows children learning in a relaxed atmosphere, resulting in encouraging good performances for both sides.Through photos and updates, we can check how my son engages activities, and overcomes learning challenges. Also teachers explain how those activities affect the development of children, not only academic but also emotional development in words with a lot of photos. It is great to see the pictures of his progress and life at nursery very well.During the sensitive stage in which children learn everything and anything from surrounding environments, we are grateful for the chance for our child to go to this authentic Montessori Nursery School.My husband and I appreciate not only the wonderful teachers, also other children who create a good vibe at nursery and their kind and supportive parents, warm next door church people and neighbours who greet and chat as we pass each other. One day my son and I were told “my daughter also went there and has wonderful memories”.The whole community makes a heartwarming, welcoming atmosphere. I cannot recommend this nursery enough.

A marvellous nursery and we consider ourselves so lucky to have found it, it was the best place we could have ever sent our little boy. The staff are warm, caring and extremely competent in their roles. Their commitment to the children is unparalleled and this showed itself in our child's progress. As parents, we felt we were integral to the whole educational process and were kept fully abreast of developments. I cannot recommend the Montessori Nursery School enough!

Excellent nursery, my 4yr old daughter has been attending for over a year and is happy every day I pick her up. She talks very fondly of the staff once home. Would thoroughly recommend this nursery.

A fantastic nursery, where everything is set up with the children's welfare in mind. My son had a very easy and tear free settling period which we put down to the respect the staff showed to him. He was allowed to make decisions and was not forced to stay away from us under specific timescales. Instead we followed his lead and all went fantastically well. He is so happy to go to nursery every day and meet with his friends and teachers. He has access to very good quality Montessori material and so much time is spent outdoors which is excellent. Also, all the specialist activities provided in the afternoon are very well organised. Very happy with our choice.

I only hold happy memories of my time with Murrayfield Montessori nursery. The intelligent and insightful mature and well rounded staff (Trish, Camille, Lisa and Julie) who were all good at what they did and did what they did with mind, heart and an excellent attitude. Prior to joining the nursery, I visited and observed a number of Edinburgh Montessori schools but never felt at home like I did with this nursery. The Montessori approach on its own is great, however, I discovered that it is only as good as the people behind it and Trish has a great team. My daughter enjoyed her time there and made great friends from around the world! That was very important to me. From the start, I could see that the teachers were interested in understanding my child. The respect Trish and her chosen staff gave the children is very unique (she would give them a handshake daily without fail at pick-up and each child would stand tall - very endearing to see :) )and in turn my daughter and her peers were respectful to each other and others. My daughter knew that she mattered and that Trish and other teachers valued her contribution. Parents were very supportive during my time there. The honesty from staff about where my child was at each stage of her learning and their ability to take the child seriously and deal with any issues head on in a straightforward, gentle, firm and loving manner was so re-assuring to me as a parent. As they only went till P1, I moved my daughter to an excellent Edinburgh Private school BUT can still say Murrayfield Montessori to this day is unrivalled as a place of learning and a space to allow the child’s mind to broaden in a healthy manner - in my opinion.

We joined this fabulous team two years ago, and we have been through hard times the current one, but Trish and her amazing crew have done an amazing job. I would never found a better place to have my little one in. Aside the excellent method and installations they provide, they are all just spectacular human beings. Aday (my son) is always happy to go and he has met very good friends from Scotland and another countries, due the environment is international. The Montessori Nursery at Murrafield is best option for any child.

Our daughter went to the Montessori Nursery School and we loved how she learned essential skills to prepare her for her later years and to be a good citizen! The teachers are very experienced and good with children. They value nature, conservation and teach children the skills they need to deal with the problems and situations they will face later in school and social settings. The Director is very accommodating and approachable. The space is well ventilated and sunny! The children have lots of Montessori activities that have helped with intellectual and social development.
